Functional Adult Literacy (FAL)

2023 adults and adolescent are benefiting from the FAL program currently run by ADRA Liberia in 51 communities in Foya and Kolahun districts in Lofa County. For successful implementation, 102 community facilitators were trained in FAL related topics and capacitated to effectively facilitate the literacy program in the English language under the direct supervision of our Community Workers. With the help of the circle meetings in these communities, the high rate of illiteracy had been considerably reduced, and beneficiaries have developed economic coping strategies for sustainability because of its necessity. In order to foster sustainability, the project has provided for the beneficiaries agricultural inputs such as hoes, cutlasses, watering cans, wheelbarrows, vegetable seedlings and rice seeds for gardening purposes. Besides, all of the Community Facilitators are receiving a monthly stipend to strengthen their capacity.

Shelter

Having seen the mass infrastructure damage caused by the senseless war, there is a glaring need to include shelter component if life and sanity is to be restored by the intervention of ADRA Liberia. ADRA Liberia through her donor DANIDA has provided a total of 657 shelters to vulnerable family heads.
